Cheap Hotels

When you think of cheap hotels, you probably think of being woken up at two am by the sounds of loud music pounding through the walls of your room, of crazy college kids hopping off the roof of the hotel, bottles crashing, random renditions of “YMCA” and loads of other torturous and annoying dances that are sure to make you cringe and endure many a sleepless night hoping that the cursed party animals will go away!

But the fact of the matter is that a lot of cheap hotels really, truly, are not all that bad. As a matter of fact, they can be darn right awesome! It’s all a matter of finding good cheap hotels and finding them at a good time!

As a matter of fact, cheap hotels doesn’t mean that the hotel that you are going to is cheap ALL THE TIME. In fact, it may mean that you just reserved a room at a good time. But how do you go about doing this without worrying about getting a bad hotel room?

First of all, try getting in touch with a travel agency. You never know what kind of deals they can put you in contact with or companies that will help you to get your hotel for a lot less!

Secondly, you need to make sure that you have enough time to book your hotels…and you need to book them several months in advance! You may not realize it but the earlier that you actually book your hotel room, the more discounts that you can get!

Many of the travel agencies that you can hire will help you to book your hotel rooms in advance-but you may want to also consider whether you REALLY need to go on vacation during the winter. You may not realize it but if you go on vacation during the winter, you can save quite a bit more money than if you had gone during the summer! Simply check with the hotels around the area that you are planning on staying and see if you can get a discount of some form. You never know how much they might take off!

Next, you need to budget out how much money you’ll need once you finally get your vacation set up. This means that you may need to take into account how much you spend, how much you will spend, etc. You also need to have an emergency fund for those times when you might be in need of a little extra money. You never know when something will happen that will require more money. Maybe your two year old will accidentally set a pair of sheets on fire-you never know! The point is, make sure you have a little extra.

Lastly, make sure that you research the cheap hotels and travel agencies that you will be looking into. You may not realize it, but a lot of companies may seem nice and reputable, but their cheap hotels may be nothing more than a shack. While this may add to the experience, but it certainly won’t add to your contentment.

How to Find Amazingly Cheap Hotels and Airline Ticket Deals Online

What follows are three examples of trips that might be taken by a family of four starting from within the United States and flying to three different destinations and staying in a hotel for one week. The two children will count as adults in terms of room rates and flights when they compare hotels and compare airlines. While this might not be typical of your situation, it can shed some light on the cost difference between which airline to take and what hotel to stay in on your next trip.

Our first trip is about a family from Denver, Colorado taking a week’s vacation to Honolulu, Hawaii. They are leaving on January 2nd, 2012 and coming back on January 9th. The exact time of day they leave is of no concern. They are simply looking for the most economical flight.

A quick comparison shows;

– United Airlines: $495 each, $1980 Total.

– American Airlines: $520 each, $2080 Total.

– Alaska Airlines: $531 each, $2124 Total.

Of course, all tickets are subject to change and the results may differ depending on when the tickets are purchased and any special discounts that might occur. But using these numbers as they are, a family can save $100 by taking the United Airlines flight over the American Airlines to Hawaii. Finding this information out quickly can help a family plan ahead and take advantage of lower rates.

Of course, now that they have booked their flight, the next step is to get a hotel. Here, since they’ve saved little money on their flight, the family is looking for something close to the beach, 2 rooms, and something in the four-star range. They consider three top quality hotels for their 6 night stay.

– Hilton Waikiki Beach Hotel: $199 per room, per night

– Hotel Renew Honolulu: $163 per room, per night

– Marriott Resort Waikiki Beach: $209 per room, per night

Each hotel fulfills the basic requirements of this particular family. When comparing prices, staying at the Hotel Renew can save the family $432 total over staying at the Hilton Waikiki. Of course, if they wanted to emphasize more on saving money, they could revert to the fine, three-star hotel, such as the Queen Kapolani Hotel and pay only $95 per room each night.

By doing a quick comparison, our family of four saved $532 that might have been spent on air fair and hotels for other expenditures. Of course, what you want in both travel and hotel accommodations will depend on the type of trip you want to take, the time of year and any additional discounts you may come across.
